I want to take my kids places, but the security and the "stuck in the seats on the plane" etc make me nervous about wiggly and wild kids and meltdowns. How did you do it?Lisshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02871879951119104428noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1505172769848083309.post-92112425992272071592011-12-29T16:21:43.492-08:002011-12-29T16:21:43.492-08:00Melissa- tips and tricks....hmmmm. On the first day we had 3 1/2 (I'll count the half where we first landed in Venezuela had to get off with baggage and go through immigration and then reboard the same plane.) and by the 3rd one Lucy was done. Also it's better to fly direct and go with the big airlines. We thought we would save money by going through Aruba and catching a local Venezuelan plane to Maracaibo. With the 6 hour delay for the 15 min flight, we will never do that again. We should have stopped in Aruba for a night and then continued on or went directly to Venezuela. Take lots of snacks!! We packed a few things for the girls to do and they were interested in nothing. At one point Ed folded various things out of paper to keep them entertained but they mostly slept, bounced in their seats and Lucy in the end wanted to walk up and down the aisle. I also decided that red-eye flights are NEVER worth it. Lucy did not sleep and I'm sure that the people around us didn't either. She was over-tired. My biggest advice is to let a lot go. You have to drop your expectations with children. We've taken Olivia to Mexico and Venezuela and both times I'm grateful that I didn't expect too much out of her or the people around us. Paris was before we had kids so I don't know how that would compare. I love being able to take my kids places and let them experience new things. Ed and I did decide that the next trip will be just the two of us. Of course we decided this during a long delay at the airport and I was sick. I'll probably change my mind. :)Nicolhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15672249869812124038noreply@blogger.com
